Environmental Impact
I've been thinking of my impact on the environment lately for some strange reason.  I've mostly driven vehicles that use too much gas-in fact, most of my vehicles have been V8s (although there has been a turbo-four or two along the way), I use take out places that still use styrofoam containers, rather than rinse out metal and plastic takeout containers and put them in recycling I tend to just throw them out in regular garbage.  Also, for years I've used disposable enema kits, disposable this, disposable that, etc.  Therefore, one can only come to the conclusion that I have had a negative effect on the environment.

I'm going to try and change all that.  Now, I'm not saying that I'm going to start driving a hybrid car-I mean, that's not me.  In fact, the truck has to last a few more years, but the next  car will definitely be more efficient-I will probably stay with a V8, but maybe get one that shuts off half the cylinders on the highway or a high output six (I'm sorry, I like horsepower, but there are ways to get it without getting a low 12 miles to a gallon).  I'm also going to try and avoid places that use styrofoam take out trays, and do my part to recycle more than I actually do (ie, clean takeout containers and put them in recycling).  Furthermore, starting tonight, I'm going to use less bottles of water in the house and only save them for the car-I mean, both the house and the apartment have filtered water, so why not drink that more when at home-right?

Just Funny Godzilla References From Sanford & Son
1. "Is it the one where Godzilla Eats Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Gets Diabetes?"
2. "It's the one where Godzilla Eats Hershey, Pennsylvania and Gets Nuts"

I love godzilla references-in fact, every once in awhile I watch Godzilla movies because they are so bad they're good :)

What's In A Name
I think more people call me Dave than David.  This has gone on all my life, but does anyone know that I really prefer David to Dave, probably not.  Yeah, in a quickie email I'll sign it Dave, but that's only because most people call me Dave.  So, why haven't I ever said anything-I dunno, probably because I'm pretty easy going about such things.  The other thing is, well, David is quite formal, whereas, Dave, he's just a fun, laid back guy-which is the playful image I try and project-usually pretty successfully.  Now my middle name however, well, that's a closely guarded secret and for those that know, I prefer the nickname to the actual name...

Something That Just Made Me Really Happy
As some know, the apartment in Chelsea has a few direct views of the Empire State Building-I'm so used to seeing it, especially lit up at night that I kind of take it for granted.  Something I haven't seen in a long time-especially with the amount of time I've spent in the country this past year is the Empire State Building, at night, with it's uplighting off-so that only a few internal lights are on and only on certain floors and the ring of lights on right above the observation tower at the very top.  I just looked out the window in the kitchen to see that, and wow, there's just something surreal about all the darkness with the lighted "crown" so to speak.  I stared at the shadow like outline of the building and I don't know why, but it made me feel really happy.

Complicated? No, Not Really
So, in my never ending quest to drive myself crazy with thinking, this topic has popped into my head today, and I just felt like writing about it.  Awhile back, I made a joke to a friend that unlike my stereo, I'm complicated (my Stereo only has a few buttons on the face).  I think his response was "you're really not complicated" or something to that effect.  That is actually a truth-that for as complicated as I can come off or want to come off as, I'm actually pretty basic.  So, I figure I'd let everyone in on the big secret to my inner workings...

I have very simple motivations-in fact, my general stance on life is the Freudian view of everything being about sex-unless it's about death.  I so know that people are going to argue with me on that one, but hey, am talking about myself here.  My primary motivations are play based.  I love playing-especially playing hard.  Get into my head, play with it, push me further, bring play to spiritual and intense levels-I love stuff like that.  If it's lighter play, as long as it's good-I'm there.  Gear of course is very cool *g*.

I love cars, and unlike others, I find cars sexy.  When I'm working, yes, I do like a nice, new car every few years-that's probably my biggest vice actually, an unhealthy love of the automobile.  I can't explain it is what it is.  A car to me is more than basic transportation-and while what I'm driving now isn't my usual taste (especially compared to what I drove in the past), it's good for now.

Having fun-I have a relatively adventureous nature, and I'm not talking about play, but rather, in general.  Finding new things and having new experiences is always fun for me.  I'm constantly looking to do new things-it's just who I am.  I mean, it's all about fun-what good is all of this if it's boring and not fun-there is no point in my opinion.  Music is important, it moves me, so is art, and yeah, I'm a little bit of a shoe whore-I love shoes.  Friends are important-and while some of the friendships I have are extremely complex, that doesn't mean that I am.

Finally, yes, I can be competitive, and often go overboard in terms of work or play because of such.  Hell get me next to someone doing the same exact thing, and I'm going to have to be best-it's just my nature.  That's pretty much about it-I mean there are those that would say that money is also important to me-but not so much to save, more for spending to have a good time-but it really doesn't take money to have a good time.  But, that's me in a nut shell-I'm pretty basic.

ok, this is just like yawning, downright infectious...
Ok, has anyone else ever experienced anything like this....  Someone "woofs" then you "woof" or "arf" back, then it goes on over the course of a few days, he leaves, and you're still arfing at everything for no reason... This is weird for me.

This Makes Sense, Sorta

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

Men As Shoe's Revisited
A friend is back reading my blog and caught my original post titled "Men As Shoes."  Sure enough, after he finished reading the post, he asked "what kind of shoe would I be?"  Now, normally when describing a guy as a shoe, I use shoe examples, but for him what came to mind were boots.  So my answer-"You'd be either a dehner patrol boot or a 20+hole doc-you know, the kind of boots that one wants to lick, feel press into him and lay his head on."  Now, I never use the shoe metaphore in a sexual way, but for some reason yesterday I did.  The friend's reply to my response was "awe, you're sweet," and I think I answered with my usual-"yeah, but don't let anybody know that."

Wait a minute, that's not a dog...
Someone (not myself mind you) yesterday decides they want a kitten.  I'm not a big cat fan, in fact, there only like three cats we've had as pets that I actually liked, the rest of them, quite frankly, i considered assholes.  I'm a dog guy, but we've always had both dogs and cats when I was growing up, so I tend to tolerate cats.  Rather than do another Siamese, this person decided they wanted an orange kitten, and so, it made sense to go to the local chapter of the SPCA up here.

Well, a short ride later into Stroudsburg and we were at the SPCA and the people there impressed me-they don't put down an animal unless it is sick or vicious.  That impressed me so much, that I opened my wallet and donated to them.  Another thing really surprised me with this SPCA chapter-the amount of pure bred dogs there.  I mean, there was a mutt I fell in love with (ok, while it's true that I love certain breads, I often think that mutts make the best dogs out there, but that's another story).   There was also a doberman and a Weimeriner that if I could've I would've taken all three home, but my Westie wouldn't have tolerated that.  I can get away with getting a puppy, but a dog that is say a year or two old-the Westie would terrorize.  So, I asked the lady in charge why all the pure breds and she responded "In the past three weeks, we've taken several dogs because of foreclosures."   Honestly, this just broke my heart.  All the dogs looked well taken care of, but some of them just seemed to miss their families (maybe that's just me personifying some of the dogs).

Moving back on to the kittens, the person interested found one.  The kitten is cute, and the Westie and Bichon for as little contact as they've had with him seem to be fine with the idea of having a cat around again.  The kitten is pretty much relegated to the master bedroom suite, which is a good thing for several reasons.

The Moon, Music and Moods

Yes, saw the Lunar Eclipse last night-well, not all of it-more the beginning and the end.  It didn't seem to be blood red from my view up in the country.  Lunar cycles tend to have an effect on my moods and sex/play drive.  Nothing tends to beat full moon play on this end.  Lunar eclipse play would've been awesome, but right now, am still healing from my surgery so restraint was the key word-although my sex/play drive was in overdrive last nigth-everything was setting me off.

I had a strange day musically yesterday.  I mean, on any given day, I could listen to rock, classic rock, funk, soul, motown, oldies, jazz, opera, classical, house, disco, reggae, hip hop, etc, but yesterday was a little different.  Musically, yesterday was like schizophrenic chick music on this end-Alanis Morrisette, Corine Baily Ray and Sara Bareilles.  By schizophernic, I mean there was no theme consistently with the music, it's like, I hate men, I like men, I like myself-if that makes sense.  I still have no clue why I decided to listen to those artists in a row, that is strange for me considering the only cd out of that bunch I ever really listen to is Corine Bailey Ray's-the other two tend to collect dust.  Well, in an effort to correct myself musically, and remember that I have a penis, I blasted Oasis followed by Smashing Pumpkins and then Springstein.

Just A Little Update
It's been awhile since I posted an unlocked post, so I figure that this one is to stay unlocked.  OK, I had my surgery last tuesday and spent a few days in the hospital.  Upon release, I came back up to the country, for several reasons, one of which being is that it'd be pretty hard to get into trouble up here (yeah right, sure).  I am horned beyond belief and am still trying to figure out a way to get the Bipolar Beads in me and plugged into the erostek box without ripping all my stitches.  Speaking of stitches, they come out next Monday, yay.  I ran into the city yesterday to have my surgical drain tube and suction ball removed, yay, now I look less like something from the original Dune movie.  Did I mention I am horned?  Today I stopped the vicodan because I got a really bad case of car sickness yesterday on the way back into the city, and while usually the vicodan doesn't do that to me, the antibiotic I am on lists that as a side effect and I know a lot of people that get that particular effect from Vicodan, so I figure it couldn't hurt to stop it.  Along the lines am feeling the full pain from the surgery and all I can say is fuck, it hurts; eh, I can deal with it.  Other than that, all's quiet here.

The Day After Christmas
So, after recovering from Christmas Day, I had to run back into the city, and I decided to spend the night in the apartment.  I sat down at 9 and flicked on CBS to see the Kennedy Center Awards-how could I not, they were honoring Brian Wilson and Diana Ross (ok, with her, it's the homo in me).  Let's talk about the Diana Ross tribute for awhile, everyone with the exception of the girl doing "I'm Comming Out" did better renditions of Diana's songs-again, with that exception, for only Diana Ross can sing "I'm Coming Out."  She started sheding her fake tears, and I won a bet-I said, watch, she's going to mouth the songs and dance in her seat a little, and then start with the arm and hand gestures-sure enough, I was right.  Hootie and Blowfish did a good job with the Brian Wilson stuff, but the kids at the end that did "Love and Mercy" were incredible.  OK, enough about this.

After the Kennedy Center honors, I decided that I absolutely, postively could not live without a certain CD, and I put on my jacket and took a walk from Chelsea to Union Square to the Virgin Megastore (they close at 1am).  They didn't have what I wanted, so I decided to further my adventures in the rain and walk down Fifth Avenue to see the tree in Washington Square Park.  It looked really awesome this year under the arch that sits at the foot of Fifth Avenue.  The rain really didn't bother me.  There's something about Manhattan during this time of year, even in the rain, it's stunningly beautiful.  On my walk home, I decided to come up Eight Avenue, and see what was going on there.  People were out, bars seemed to be relatively filled; by the time I got up to 24th and 9th, I decided that I didn't want to go back up to the apartment, so I kept on walking to the Eagle.

So, I get to the front doors and do not pay attention to the little white paper on the door and go in.  There is a cover, which is unusual, but the bouncer tells the guy collecting the cover that I'm a usual, and then he explains to me that it's a foot friend's party going on.  OK, I am into leather and rubber, uniforms, most definitely bondage, water sports, cigars, breath control, tt, floggers, single tails, more bondage, electro to some extent and a plethora of other things, so who am I to judge, right?  I by no means am a prude.  Hell, I even asked someone about puppy play recently because I want to understand the headspace, but feet, no thank you, once you take the boot off the foot, that part of the body has no appeal to me whatsoever.  Now, me having size tweleve feet, well, the offers abounded, and I was like, no thanks, not here for the party, am here to drink and amuse the bartender-Birch is a cool guy.  So, there was toe sucking all over the bar last nigth, and my shoes were definitely not comming off...  There was one really hot, cute, clean shave guy in leather and I chatted with him, but I don't think he was interested (I wasn't wearing any gear, which is unusal for me at the eagle, if I was, I might have sparked some interest-but then again, I think this was a foot guy also, so that wouldn't have worked at all).  I had a few drinks, me and Birch told a few jokes, and then I walked home.

On the way home I stopped by Ray's Pizza on 9th Ave for a calzone, a real calzone-I was dying for one, haven't had a ham calzone in ages.  I got to the apartment and I had my calzone, and then went to bed-fuck, I hate getting older, the damn calzone gave me a good case of reflux acid and it took forever for the Prevacid to start working...  There was a time when I could easily have eaten that and then gone to bed.  I woke up, drove out to Astoria to get my hair cut, hung out by the apartment for a bit, then I drove back up to the country.

And A Special Thank You To Lenox
One thing I hate about the holidays is decorating, and Lenox has made my life harder this year.  Last night, I did a favor for my mom that took me until three in the morning and that was setting up Lenox's Department 56 Dicken's Village-but wait, the plot thickens.  See, Lenox makes several period villages, and guess what, some people don't look at the box when they buy something to see if it matches their set-so a few pieces belong to different sets, no biggie, right.  Wrong, I can get a little anal (ok a lot anal) when doing something.  Now, it'd all be fine if everything were in the same scale, but the shit isn't and I had to come up with a way to make it all look good.  My original plan was to have the Tower Bridge separate one side of the village (the good neighborhood) from the other-the side with Scotland Yard Station and the "ghetto," I was in a silly mood when I started and that's just a joke, after all, this is period London and not 1970s urban decay.  Between setting this up and the damn falling Christmas trees, I am about ready to kill someone (oh yeah, finally got ornaments back up on the tree yesterday).  I think I'll suggest next year we celebrate something that takes less work.

Tis the Season
Thursday afternoon, I left the rural PA countryside for civilization-yes a few days back at the apartment in Chelsea; so, before the ride in the car, the Westie got her dramamine because she gets carsick and we're on our way.  Thursday was pretty uneventful-I stopped by Whole Foods on 7th Avenue and 24th Street to pick up some stuff-I had so forgotten how pleasurable it is when someone is queening me out to tell them calmly "you're unimportant, go away;" that just so really pisses people off who are screaming at you.  Around midnight, I geared up and took a walk over to the Eagle, Greg had the night off, but Clacio was happy to see me, a few friends and bar buddies were out, but I only stayed for one drink (yes the bar's profits were low that night, I didn't do my Dean Martin impersonation, but I haven't really been drinking lately).  I just had no patience to be out.

Friday, I got a lot of crap accomplished here-new couch was delivered, ham picked up from the Butcher for Christmas day, etc, etc.  Although, I still didn't make it to my barber and hence, my high n tight flattop is now kinda a Cesar, eh, I'l eventually get around to seeing my barber.

For years, when life was normal, Christmas Eve was my Aunt's time to cook, and Chirstmas Day was my mom's-so, Christmas Eve would be at her apartment and Chirstmas Day would be at my mom's Brownstone in the Village.  Since the sale of the Brownstone, last year everything was done in the apartment.  This year, however, everything's going to be done in Saylorsburg.  So, to keep it that my Aunt still gets some type of holiday meal, she made her normal Christmas Eve meal at the apartment today, and friends and family were over including my hag, her dad and hubby, always a fun time.  Lots of red wine in me at the moment.  My younger brother brought his girlfriend over and I got to hear more about their sexlife, which to me, well, any straight sex is a perverse act, but to each their own, right...  Actually, just kidding, his girlfriend is really cool...

Not too much is going on at the moment.  I don't know how much posting I'll be doing until after Christmas, so if I forget it, Merry Christmas to all my friends and LJ Buddies, and what the fuck, to everyone else as well.

Always An Exciting Moment
If anyone didn't realize it, I was a little bored when writing my last post, and I kind of wanted some type of excitement; everyone knows the old saying, "bare carefull what you wish for, you just may get it," well, I got it...  Shortly after posting, the Christmas tree decided to lurch forward and come crashing down.  This is the first time this has ever happened.  Now, I could understand if it was a huge tree, but this one was nothing outragious-only a 10 foot tall Douglas Fir.  Lots of broken antique ornaments, broken, and now the entire tree has to be done again-which is a pain in the ass but thankfully there are enough ornaments to do it again.
